Sterling Shepard
WR - NYG
2023 Outlook
Sterling Shepard and the Giants have agreed to terms on a new deal.
Fantasy Impact
Shepard will return for his eighth season with the Giants. The 30-year-old was limited to just three games in 2022 due to a torn ACL. Shepard posted 154 yards and one touchdown on 13 receptions in his three games last season.
Sterling Shephard has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of this season.
Fantasy Impact
Shepard had to get carted off late in Monday night's game against the Cowboys, and the concern of serious injury turned out to be true. Coach Brian Daboll confirmed that the veteran receiver tore his ACL and his season is over. This is a tough blow for the Giants, who already struggle at the wide receiver position. His absence could lead to more targets for players like David Sills V or Richie James Jr.
Sterling Shepard reportedly suffered a serious knee injury in the Giants' Week 3 loss to Dallas. The official diagnosis will come Tuesday but the belief is that his season is likely over.
Fantasy Impact
Shepard suffered the injury on the last play of the game. Unfortunately for Shepard and the Giants, it was a non-contact injury and he had to be carted to the locker room. We will provide a further update once the Giants get the results back of Shepard's official diagnosis.
Sterling Shepard was carted to the locker room late in the fourth quarter of the Giants’ game against the Cowboys.
Fantasy Impact
Shepard suffered an apparent injury on Daniel Jones’ final throw of the game, but on the opposite side of the field away from the play. He went down on a non-contact injury, which is never a good sign. Shepard suffered a torn Achilles last season and has been a solid option for Jones since returning to start this season. We will update you once we have word from the Giants on the nature of the injury.
Sterling Shepard caught six of his 10 targets for 34 yards in a win over Carolina in Week 2.
Fantasy Impact
Shepard tallied the most targets on the team Sunday and was second in the wide receiver group in snaps played. With the lack of a true number one wide receiver, the Giants appear to be rewarding the best performances in practice with the most opportunities in that week’s game. Shepard and the Giants have Dallas up next in Week 3, but the 29-year-old likely needs to find the end zone to be fantasy relevant right now.
