McKitty joined Cleveland’s practice squad last December and signed a futures deal in January. The Browns signed Sal Cannella out of the UFL as the corresponding move.
TE Tre' McKitty caught all three of his targets for 22 yards in the Chargers 34-13 win against the Broncos on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
McKitty got more involved in the offense in this game, but didn't do much with his targets. The tight ends in the Chargers offense is just a guessing game at this point and none should be started next week against the Raiders.
The Los Angeles Chargers have selected TE Tre’ McKitty with the No. 97 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact
McKitty is a potential replacement for Hunter Henry, who signed with the Patriots this offseason. He has strong hands and the ability to make tough catches in traffic. The Georgia product has the receiving skills and gives star QB Justin Herbert another pass-catching option. McKitty is expected to backup Jared Cook in 2021 but could be the Chargers starting TE in 2022 and beyond.
