Trevon Diggs
CB - Dallas Cowboys
2024 Outlook
Trevon Diggs (knee) had surgery to repair his torn ACL.
Fantasy Impact
Diggs only played in the Cowboys' first two games of the season before his campaign was cut short. The star cornerback is expected to be back for the start of the 2024 season.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys have lost Pro Bowl CB Trevon Diggs to a torn ACL in practice Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Diggs is one of the most dynamic playmakers at the CB position in the NFL. Opposite of offseason acquisition Stephon Gilmore, they have made one of the most fearsome CB duos in the NFL. Gilmore will need to step up as the Cowboys' clear CB1 for the rest of the year as the Cowboys push for a potential playoff run.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that CB Trevon Diggs, who is dealing with a toe injury that's keeping him out of training camp, could be back as late as the team's Week 2 home opener.
Fantasy Impact
Jones phrased it as though Diggs missing Week 1 would be a worst-case scenario, so there's a chance that the injury the team called "minor" may result in no missed time. The Cowboys open the season in East Rutherford, N.J., against the New York Giants and play at home in Arlington, Texas against the New York Jets in Week 2. If he misses time, recent acquisition Stephon Gilmore would take over the team's CB1 role.
Trevon Diggs was a non-participant in Dallas' practice on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Diggs didn't practice on Thursday because of an undisclosed issue of some kind, but head coach Mike McCarthy implied that it isn't a serious issue. He will presumably be back at practice sometime within the next few days, and this news shouldn't carry any weight for his role on the defense, especially after he signed a massive five-year contract extension just a few days ago.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, two-time Pro Bowl CB Trevon Diggs is signing a five-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys worth $97 million and a maximum of $104 million.
Fantasy Impact
Diggs has been one of the best ballhawking corners in the NFL since entering the league. At the age of 24, he has 17 interceptions and 49 passes defended. Though his on-ball production was down in 2022 compared to his 2021 season, he gave up less yardage as a result. Diggs is a key piece to the Cowboys’ defense and was a priority to lock up before he became a free agent in the 2024 offseason.
