The second-round pass-rusher out of Penn State joins a Carolina defense that is putting the pieces together to create a more formidable front seven. They added DT Derrick Brown in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft and then selected Gross-Matos in the second. Gross-Matos will join 2019 first-round pick Brian Burns as a 1-2 punch pass-rushing force and be asked to get after the quarterback on a consistent basis.

The Panthers continue building up their defensive line after adding Auburn DT Derrick Brown with the seventh overall pick on Thursday night. Gross-Matos will only help bolster that unit. The Penn State alum is an effective pass rusher and run defender who totaled at least eight sacks in each of the past two seasons. Carolina spent the off-season solidifying their offense under new coach Matt Rhule. So far they are using the draft to strengthen the defense.
