QB - LV
It's not exciting drafting someone like Carr, who's presented very little upside and consistency over the course of his career. Sure, he finished as the QB16 last year, but that's more of a product of playing all 16 games. From a per-game standpoint, he was actually the QB24. Not just that, but with Marcus Mariota on the roster, it's possible they bench him at some point this year, which presents risk for those in 2QB formats.
Carr completed over 70% of his passes last season despite having virtually zero weapons. He has more upside this year but if he falters, Marcus Mariota is right behind him waiting for a chance to take the job.
Carr isn't necessarily worth drafting this season in 1QB leagues, but he's someone to keep an eye on on your waiver wire in case there's immediate chemistry with his new receiving weapons.
Carr was a lot better than you think in 2019, and it results in some great comps for 2020. In particular, his CPOE of 5% and PACR of 1.22 are huge numbers. Second year in a row the underlying numbers say that Carr is likely pretty good. @Amicsta
Derek Carr remains a totally uninspiring fantasy option. The Raiders didn't help his chances by passing up on elite talents like Lamb and Jeudy, instead taking field stretcher Henry Ruggs before adding speedster Bryan Edwards. I don't get what the plan is here and I'm not high on Carr's chances of bringing this odd offence together. Add in his questionable job security and he's best left on waivers outside the deepest of leagues.
