Carr's been one of the most steady and stable QBs in fantasy football over the last couple of seasons. He doesn't bring the upside that some of the other players at the position do, but he rarely hurts your lineup when you start him. Heading into 2021, it's difficult to project Carr and how he'll perform in this offense. The Raiders overhauled their offensive line, which was a strength of their team and something that Carr needs to be successful, and their defense didn't exactly make significant to get better in the off-season. This team should have to pass more this season, but it's unclear whether or not this will be a good thing for Carr. He's a solid streaming QB or second option in a Superflex league, but it's difficult to see how he can be anything more than that this year.

The article I write every year titled, "Boom, Bust, and Everything In Between," highlights the both the consistency a player offers, as well as his upside. Carr has no upside. Over the last two years under Jon Gruden, Carr has played 32 games. In those games, he's delivered QB1-type performances just 14 times (43.8 percent), and a "boom" performance just one time (3.1 percent). I'd rather take shots on the rookie quarterbacks who might not start out of the gate, as Carr certainly wouldn't be your QB1.

Every year certain fantasy analysts will hype up the most mediocre QB in the game, and every time you are disappointed you fell in the trap. This year might be the worst trap of all. Now, he'll be playing behind an offensive line that lost three starters to cap woes including C Rodney Hudson. It's going to be a long year in Las Vegas and Derek Carr might not survive it.

Carr has some weapons in Darren Waller and Henry Ruggs, but the offensive line lost some keys cogs this past offseason. Carr's lack of mobility caps his upside. The combination of those two could lead to a lot of sacks. He's okay, but I'm hoping for better at QB.

Very quietly, Derek Carr finished as QB13 last season. This was due to him playing in all 16 games, which many QBs did not in 2020. Carr did throw for his 3rd straight 4k yard season, but I have significant concerns about the offensive line turnover for the Raiders. At 30, Derek Carr is a prototypical league-average quarterback, hence the 8-8 record of the Raiders. I would love him as my 3rd QB in Superflex, but you could do worse as your QB2. Although Carr did make some statistical strides, it's hard to get excited about him in fantasy terms.
