Jacoby Brissett has been a low-aDOT point guard under center as the QB21 in fantasy points per game. He could flirt with QB1 production this week, though. That's how bad the Lions' pass defense has been. Among 29 qualifying quarterbacks, Brissett has the lowest yards per attempt, the sixth-lowest aDOT, the seventh-lowest deep ball rate, and the eighth-lowest hero throw rate while ranking 14th in passing success rate. He faces a Detroit pass defense that has given up the seventh-most yards per attempt, the third-highest passing success rate and CPOE, and the fifth-most fantasy points per dropback.
A matchup with the flammable Detroit pass defense makes Jacoby Brissett an appealing Week 5 streamer.
The Lions have given up 1,308 passing yards and 11 TD passes. Their defensive backfield has been an injury-riddled mess, although it's been reported that Detroit has a chance to get star safety Brian Branch back from an Achilles injury this week.
Brissett hasn't been ultra-sharp this year. He's averaging 5.4 yards per pass attempt, and on Sunday he threw three interceptions in a loss to the Giants. But Brissett has thrown six TD passes, and he's had a couple of good yardage days — a 277-yard game vs. the Chargers in Week 1 and a 280-yard game vs. the 49ers in Week 3.
The appeal here is almost entirely matchup-based: The Lions are a green-light matchup.
