QB - DET
The Lions accomodated Matthew Stafford's request and traded him to LA netting Jared Goff and some draft picks in return for a horrendous contract. Goff has no WRs and a coach who wants to smash skulls. Not the recipe for fantasy greatness for your QB. Avoid
If you were thinking the hate went too far with Goff and that he might be a decent streamer/platoon option, think again. His start to the season is a nightmare and it really doesn't get any better as it goes on. The first seven weeks include the 49ers, Packers, Ravens, Bears, Vikings, and Rams. If you want to find a great matchup, you have to wait all the way until Week 16. The Lions offense isn't one you should aggressively attack in fantasy drafts.
The Lions may not have any WRs, but they may have one of the best offensive lines in football. That factor alone could catapult Jared Goff into some fantasy relevance this season.
After a very poor year in LA, Jared Goff heads to Detroit as, at best, an add-on. When you need two 1sts and a 3rd added to you to equal Matthew Stafford, a QB half a decade older, you know it's a bad sign for the NFL's opinion of your value. Best case scenario, Goff gets 2021 to himself and proves himself to be start-worthy moving forward. More likely though, the Lions draft a QB, maybe very early, and Goff becomes the bridge guy. While not droppable in most dynasty leagues, he's certainly not a guy you want.
