QB - DET
There have been a lot of people talking about Stafford's 2019 season before injury, highlighting that it could be a sign of things to come. He was the No. 6 quarterback in fantasy through nine weeks, yes. But do you know who No. 5 was? Aaron Rodgers. That didn't end well. Stafford's 8.2 yards per attempt was easily a career high and just the second time in his career over 7.6 yards per attempt. He's going to be a fine low-end QB1/high-end QB2, but he's not likely to be a league winner at this stage of his career.
Stafford was on pace for almost 5,000 yards passing and 38 passing touchdowns before he missed 8 games due to a back injury. The big worry at this point for the 32-year old quarterback is durability playing on a bad team.
Stafford was on fire before his injury last season and was a solid fantasy option. He's currently being drafted as the QB13 and should easily return that value in 2020.
If we can just re-run last year and his career year that he was having before injury, he'll be a steady play for your fantasy team. Don't have to expect a career year 2 years in a row, just need Hockenson to take another step forward, and a hopefully improved run game to keep the offense humming.
Before his Week 10 injury last season, Matthew Stafford was QB6 and in the talks for MVP. He returns this year with the same solid group of WR's as last year with the key addition of 2nd round rookie RB DeAndre Swift. Stafford has been known to stuff the stat sheets throughout his career and in an offense with this much firepower, we could see another top 10 finish in 2020.
After years of fantasy mediocrity and seemingly out of nowhere, Matthew Stafford exploded out of the blocks to start the 2019 season, averaging his most fantasy points per game since 2011. Heading into 2020, he provides a relatively safe option with sudden and surprising upside who you can grab later in drafts then many of the more established fantasy guns. He's a great option if he's still there in the double digit rounds of fantasy drafts.
He was the QB6 through 9 weeks last year before going to the IR.
