One of my favorite sleepers for 2021 is already Rashaad Penny. It's been a while since we've seen him in action and fantasy managers are tired of hearing about the supposed breakout, which is why we're going to see his ADP so low heading into this fantasy season. However, when Penny is healthy and in the lineup, the Seahawks have proven that they want him involved. In a dynamic offense, Penny should clearly see plenty of work behind Chris Carson that will keep him in the weekly FLEX consideration. Additionally though, he offers tremendous upside as an insurance RB if Carson were to miss time again with an injury. Adding Penny as the RB4 or RB5 to my roster this off-season in the later rounds is going to be a move I make every single time. My Very Early Projection: 195-994-6 rushing & 25-209-1 receiving.

It's not the start to his career that he hoped for, as Penny has totaled just 161 carries over his first three seasons in the league. While on the field, he was productive with his touches, but he failed to bounce back from his ACL injury in 2020, an injury that not many have had problems coming back from. It seemed he may finally get his opportunity to claim this backfield in 2021, but the Seahawks decided to re-sign Chris Carson to a pricey contract, locking Penny into the backup role. He's a solid handcuff, but one who hasn't been able to stay healthy himself.

Carson returns, but Penny could be the clear No.2 in a run-heavy attack, behind an injury-prone starter

After an injury-ravaged 2020, Rashaad Penny has the opportunity to pick himself up and stake a claim for RB1 status. While I expect Chris Carson to re-sign in some capacity, a transition or franchise tag is very possible while Pete Carroll finds out what he can get out of Penny in the final two years of his contract. A starting role could be very much in his future, but for 2021 I'd expect a busy backup role ala Gus Edwards.
