Dynamic and explosive athlete. Incredibly dangerous and elusive in space. Great change of direction ability and tackle breaking. Arm tackles won't bring him down. Great top-end speed and burst in small windows. Phenomenal cut ability and power in his lower body to cut laterally and then explode vertically. Competitor. Fights for yardage when running between the tackles. Powerful for his size and good lower body strength. Has issues in pass protection but has a willingness to attack and good recognition of where the blitz is coming from. Grade A pass catcher out of the backfield. Needs to be used more as a weapon to take advantage of this skill, but can be used all over the formation. Incredibly natural and sticky receiver and then is able to quickly turn and accelerate out of the reception. Concerns involve a potential fumbling issue. Lost three balls in my tape evaluation, but could be primarily out of the desire to do more to help the team. This offense is abysmal and refuses to run through Akers. The OL is putrid and rarely gave Akers a fighting chance. He's constantly overcompensating for the horrible blocking and is often attacked in the backfield before he even has a chance to view the available openings. Difficult to evaluate how his vision is running between the tackles due to the fact that the hole that he chose most likely got closed by the time he got there. Overall, an incredible athlete and will be a great back in the NFL IF he is constantly given the ball in space. Best option and fit for Akers would be as a 3rd down back in the NFL where he's allowed to utilize his strengths and be given the ball in space. He'd be a constant mismatch lined up on linebackers split out wide.

Cam Akers finds the endzone for second straight game

Cam Akers rushed nine times for 84 yards and a score during the Rams' 20-23 loss to the 49ers' in Week 12.

Fantasy Impact

Despite a majority of his yards coming from a 61-yard scamper in the second half, Akers was easily the Rams' best back on Sunday. Even though he was once again out-touched by Darrell Henderson (10-9), Akers easily out-produced him on one drive alone and found the endzone for the second consecutive week. It appears the Rams' are beginning to trust their rookie running back a bit more and he should be the back to own heading into Week 13.
