Arguably one of the most productive CFB WRs of all time, Smith has a chance to be special in the NFL. He's not the biggest receiver on the field, but he plays like he's 30 pounds and 6 inches bigger. Smith is an excellent route-runner from every area of the field. He's constantly moved around the formation and plays everywhere from the slot to out wide on the line of scrimmage. He still has room to grow as far as adding refinement within his routes, but he didn't need it in CFB to be successful. He possesses a great ability to throttle down and snap his hips to come back to the football. Incredibly athletic and agile for his size and is able to create separation at nearly every level of the field because of his burst. Tremendous hands. Rarely drops a pass and is able to bring in some ridiculously tough catches. Incredible hand-eye coordination and he's able to make some jaw-dropping contested catches when you factor in his size. Able to go up and highpoint the football incredibly well and also catch in traffic over the middle of the field. Possesses great awareness and athleticism to be a threat after the catch too. Able to break away from defenders. Good release at the LOS, but he's often moved off the formation or constantly in motion pre-snap. Still has room to grow if he's going to be asked to line up on the scrimmage and beat DBs that are much bigger than him in press coverage. He'll be best utilized if he's able to be lined up in the slot and off the line of scrimmage. Great ability to track the ball deep downfield and make a play. He's often wide open downfield due to his separating ability, but can struggle to box out or go over a defender if the DB has inside positioning. Great speed and should run very well at the Combine. Overall, Smith should have a very long and productive NFL career. He might be a little dependent upon landing spot for his true fantasy value, but he's going to step right into a NFL offense and continue his insane productivity that he showed at Alabama.

DeVonta Smith catches 2 passes for 22 yards in loss against Giants

DeVonta Smith caught 2 of his 4 targets for 22 yards in Week 12 against the Giants.

Fantasy Impact

There was not a lot of completions in this matchup for Eagles receivers so it is not a surprise it was a quiet game for Smith. Hopefully Jalen Hurts can turn things around next week against a Jets defense allowing an average of 24 completions to opposing offenses. If Hurts can connect with Smith on his targets next week, Smith could be in for a decent fantasy performance in Week 13.
