View More NotesLast week, JJ McCarthy came in for Jameis Winston in the fourth quarter and proceeded to almost lead the team back to a victory. In less than a quarter, McCarthy amassed 243 passing yards, one passing score, and 26 rushing yards (two rushing attempts). McCarthy finished as the QB12 in fantasy last week with ONLY ONE QUARTER OF FOOTBALL PLAYED! That's absolutely insane. Among 29 qualifying passers last week, he was first in yards per attempt, ninth in passing success rate, and first in hero throw rate. No, I'm not expecting McCarthy to do this weekly as the new starting quarterback for the team, but it was insanely impressive. McCarthy is a solid QB2 this week who could easily post QB1 numbers. Houston is 15th in yards per attempt, 14th in passing touchdown rate, and 15th in passing success rate allowed. They also have the 12th-best pressure rate, but Houston is also 20th in quick pressure rate. McCarthy should have some clean pockets this week behind an offensive line that has allowed the 11th-lowest pressure rate.

Fantasy Impact
Making his first start for the Giants, McCarthy did not throw a touchdown or turn the ball over. He was able to find Malik Nabers early and often. He'll be a QB2 in superflex and 2-QB leagues moving forward.
