A smooth and powerful OT prospect. At his best when he's asked to move and utilize his athleticism, which is rare to find in a OT his size. Good in pass protection. Able to hold his own against both speed and power. Struggles slightly with bull rushes and maintaining his platform, but that will come as he gets into a NFL weight room. Can get lost in gap run blocking and miss some of his assignments, but that should develop with NFL coaching. However, he excels in zone blocking and reach blocking assignments and is able to get to second level quickly. Phenomenal length and has the ability to keep defenders from getting their hands on him. Struggles with balance occasionally, but as mentioned before, that should develop as he hits the NFL weight room and strength & conditioning. Insane athlete. Should perform very well at the Combine and can do things that most NFL OTs shouldn't be able to do. Would like to see more toughness and grit from him, but he's more than capable in this area. As mentioned before, can get knocked off his spot a bit, but it's nothing too concerning. All in all, a fantastic OT prospect that deserves to be near the top of the draft class. Should excel in a scheme that asks him to get on the move or seal blocks on the edge to create huge running lanes. Fantastic prospect.

Penei Sewell agrees to terms on four-year, $24.1M deal with the Lions

Detroit Lions OT Penei Sewell has reportedly agreed to terms with the team on his four-year, $24.1M fully guaranteed contract. This includes a $14.88M signing bonus.

Fantasy Impact

Sewell lands in Dan Campbell's smash-mouth regime to begin his career. The 20-year old tackle out of the University of Oregon will be a great asset for Jared Goff and De'Andre Swift, as he allowed just one sack across his last two seasons in college and has shown smooth run-blocking ability, opening up running lanes for the backfield to seize upon. Sewell is an extremely young prospect but has incredible strength and balance, which will allow him to hold his ground as the Lions' starting right tackle come September.
