Expert Note
View More NotesUndoubtedly, the consensus RB1 in 2025 will be Saquon Barkley after arguably the greatest season we have ever seen from the position. Over 2,000 rushing yards as the only skill player to average more than 20 points per game in half-PPR. He led the NFL in touches with nearly 500...running effectively behind the league's best OL.
But as was the case with Christian McCaffrey last season...leading the NFL in touches by such a vast margin is essentially the kiss of death for running backs the following year.
Only two RBs finished as RB1s the following year after leading the NFL in touches since 2013. Ezekiel Elliott is the only one over that period to finish inside the top 5.
Player News
View More NewsEagles coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that Saquon Barkley will be rested for the team’s upcoming game. With the Eagles having already secured a playoff spot, the decision was made to focus on player health. Although Barkley has had a phenomenal season, surpassing 2,000 rushing yards, he will not be chasing any additional records in Week 17.
Fantasy Impact
With over 2,000 rushing yards this year, Barkley has firmly re-established himself as one of the NFL’s top running backs. Given his elite production in both the rushing and receiving game, Barkley is likely to be one of the first running backs taken in fantasy drafts next season. His ability to handle a heavy workload, paired with his consistent big-play potential, makes him a strong contender for the RB1 spot in 2025. Fantasy managers should keep Barkley at the top of their draft boards, as he has proven to be a reliable, all-around back who can anchor any fantasy team.
