| Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | George Kittle tore his right Achilles in the 49ers' Wild Card win over the Eagles on Jan. 11. Kittle says his goal is to play in the 49ers' 2026 season opener against the Rams in Australia, defying the typical recovery timeline for an Achilles tear. It's possible the 32-year-old Kittle misses time early in the season, and it's possible he won't offer the usual Kittle-level production upon his return. But there will be an injury discount on Kittle in 2026 fantasy drafts, and the possibility that he's back to peak form in time for the fantasy playoffs is appealing. Over the last four seasons, Kittle has averaged 4.6 catches, 63.4 yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game. Kittle has been remarkably efficient over his career, averaging 10.0 yards per catch and 2.27 yards per target - better career numbers than superstar WR Ja'Marr Chase in both categories. | |
| Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Omarion Hampton finished his rookie season as RB16 in PPG in 9 games played, but he suffered from a tough situation. The Chargers were gutted by injuries on their offensive line and to their starting QB. The rookie RB dealt with own injuries as well. But Hampton flashed enough upside to be worth buying into as a fantasy RB1 behind a healthy OL in 2026 with Mike McDaniel stepping in as the Chargers new offensive coordinator. He played four games with a 79% plus snap share, averaging 17.5 PPG. The former UNC product received bell-cow level usage, averaging 17.3 touches per game (tied for top-12 at the position). Also played four games with five or more catches (7th in receptions per game at 3.6). PFF ranked him as the 8th-best graded rusher, finishing 11th in yards after contact per attempt (3.34). | |
| Derek Brown FantasyPros | Last year, Omarion Hampton's rookie season was derailed by an ankle injury in Week 5. When he came back, he wasn't close to 100% healthy and had only one game with over a 55% snap rate. Any games after Week 4 last year, I'm just tossing in the trash because that wasn't the "real" Hampton. In 2025, in Weeks 1-4, Hampton averaged 17 touches and 95 total yards as the RB13 in fantasy points per game. In that small sample of games, he posted a 7.4% explosive run rate, a 19% missed tackle rate, and 2.54 yards after contact per attempt (per Fantasy Points Data). If he had kept up that pace the entire year in those three categories, he would have ranked fourth, tenth, and eighth in those categories (minimum 100 carries). Those are impressive numbers and speak to his talent and upside in 2026 as Mike McDaniel's possible bellcow. Hampton also contributed through the air in his first four NFL games with a 10.1% target share, 27.5 receiving yards per game, and 1.12 yards per route run. McDaniel is sure to get Hampton involved through the air after designing offenses of the last three seasons that have ranked third, third, and seventh in target share to the running back position. Yes, I know that Hampton isn't De'Von Achane, but this is still a feather in Hampton's cap. Hampton should be a rock-solid RB1 with massive upside in 2026. | George Kittle had a battered and bruised 2025 season with a hamstring injury that cost him seven games, then an ankle injury, and finally an Achilles tear in the postseason. We'll have to see when Kittle is back on the field for the 49ers in 2026 and looking like his usual tackle-breaking self. I'm hopeful that Kittle makes a wonderful recovery and beats the timelines, but I also won't be shocked if San Francisco holds him back by starting him out on the PUP to begin the season and eases him in after that. When Kittle was on the field last year, he didn't show any signs of slowing down. Among 54 qualifying tight ends, he ranked fourth in target share (20%) and yards per route run (2.30), third in receiving yards per game (57.1) and first-read share (24.3%), and second in first downs per route run (0.139, per Fantasy Points Data). Kittle is a nice upside swing at tight end this year. He could be a player that puts fantasy teams over the top down the stretch if he can regain his usual form. If you're drafting Kittle, I'd pair him with another late tight end like Dallas Goedert or Isaiah Likely that could return strong TE1 production at least to open the 2026 season until Kittle is ready to rock. |
