Bowen Byram steps away from hockey

Bowen Byram will be out indefinitely as he has voluntarily removed himself from the roster due to personal issues.

Fantasy Impact

One can only speculate at this point as there has been no official announcement as to why he left, but it's fair to assume that this has something to do with his lingering head issues. Byram has suffered from these problems on-and-off and it looks like he's making the decision that is best for his health. The Avalanche will surely miss their 2019 1st round pick but he's only 20 years old and head injuries need to be taken very seriously. We wish him the best moving forward and hope to see him on the ice again, healthy. He's registered five goals and 11 points through 18 games this season.

Byram was hanging out in the circle as they were pressuring on the power play late in the game. Erik Johnson spotted him open and he fired a one-timer past Connor Hellebuyck off the post and in. He now has five goals and 11 points on the season.

Bowen Byram out vs Detroit

Bowen Byram will miss his fifth straight game with a head injury. He has cleared the concussion protocol but still isn't feeling game ready.

Fantasy Impact

The Avalanche will give their first round pick all the time he needs to get right and return to the ice. He has been held to 13 games so far this season and unless you have an IR+ slot, you'll have to eat a roster spot to keep him on your team.

Bowen Byram will miss next two games

Bowen Byram will remained sidelined with a head injury as the team travels to Philadelphia and New York before they head back home.

Fantasy Impact

Byram returned to Colorado due to his head injury which according to coach Jared Bednar, is not a concussion. He's played in three games since November 11th. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly and anticipate him to miss games sporadically based on his this recurring issue.
