Carter Hutton struggled on Friday, letting in four goals on 30 shots in a 4-3 defeat.

Fantasy Impact: With the loss, Hutton fell to 14-13-3 on the season. One of the goals was fluky, but Hutton wasn't on his best game. He came into the season with a chance to be Buffalo's top goaltender all year, but that may be starting to change. Linus Ullmark has been very good for the Sabres, and has already challenged Hutton for starts. It may be a good idea to roster both of them as they will likely start splitting duties more often.

Carter Hutton got his 6th loss of the season in a 3-1 loss to the Rangers on Sunday night. Hutton stopped 19 of 21 shots on the evening.

Fantasy Impact: Carter Hutton delivered yet another mediocre performance for the Sabres on Sunday night. Hutton lost 3-1 to the Rangers to bring his season record to 4-6-1. Hutton’s numbers aren’t horrible but not good enough to merit the stranglehold he has on starts for the Sabres. If Hutton continues to be underwhelming one would think he would eventually cede starts to his backup Linus Ullmark. Until then he serves as a decent third goalie for fantasy purposes.

Carter Hutton got the win in a four to three see-saw battle victory over the Canadiens. On the night, Hutton stopped eighteen of twenty one shots.

Fantasy Impact: Carter Hutton grabbed another win to even his season record to four wins and four losses. Hutton’s GAA is an unspectacular 3.08 and he has a mediocre .905 save percentage. Thursday nights win over the Canadiens saw Hutton save eighteen of twenty one shots. Some goalies are great backups and some are great starters. At least one writer, me, is in the opinion that Hutton falls into the latter category. Hutton has performed very well in backup duty and as a fill in starter for the Blues the past two seasons. The jury remains out on Hutton’s mettle as the starter for the Sabres. As long as Hutton is winning he should remain the starter over Ullmark. We will see how the start distribution pans out over the course of a full season for Hutton as he has never played more than forty games in a season in his career. Hutton is a respectable add in deeper leagues because of his wins total.

Hutton has three wins and four losses with a GAA of 3.09 and a save percentage .909. Hutton’s numbers are not awe inspiring and he could possibly be a goalie that is meant to be a backup but he will get his shot with Buffalo to prove otherwise.

Carter Hutton played two periods and stopped all 14 shots before giving way to Linus Ullmark.

Fantasy Impact: Hutton led the NHL in save percentage last season, and is tabbed as the "starter" in Buffalo. If he starts to struggle at all, Phil Housley could make a quick switch to Ullmark. Hutton is a solid goaltender to own and could be available later in drafts.

Hutton stopped 37-of-38 shots in the Blues 3-0 loss to Winnipeg, The Jets scored two empty net goals in the game.

Fantasy Impact: He played a great game, but could not get any offensive support as the Blues continue to slide their way out of a possible playoff position. It was just his third start since February 6th but he has played well going 2-1 in his last three starts with only one goal allowed in those three games. It appears the Blues will sink or swim with Jake Allen getting the bulk of the starts the rest of the season.

Hutton came into the game for the third period trailing 3-0 and saved eight of the nine shots he faced.

Fantasy Impact: There is talent but he needs to at least reach a 50-50 time spit with Allen before he is more than a deep league or spot starter in fantasy.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hutton saved 17 of the 20 shots he faced and his offense came alive for a 6-3 victory.

Fantasy Impact: His numbers are not bad and he plays on a good team but the question that needs to be answered is what will his workload going to be. If he somehow becomes the Blues #1, then he will be a surprise asset suddenly.
