By John Pritchard

Tuukka Rask notched his first win of the season as the Bruins defeated the Stars 2-1 in Dallas Thursday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rask stopped 28 of 29 shots, picking up where he left off as the NHL's top post-season netminder in 2018-19. He's a must start, although he did share considerable time with "backup" Jaroslav Halak last season.

Tuukka Rask allowed four goals on 20 shots faced as the Blues defeated the Bruins 4-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rask had a performance he would most likely want to forget Wednesday night. It could not have come at a worse time in a do or die situation for Boston. Rask will wrap up the playoffs with a 15-9 record, 2.02 GAA, and 0.934 SV%. Earning redemption from that Game 6 collapse against Chicago in 2013 will not come to fruition for Rask this year sadly.

Fantasy Impact: Despite the loss and giving up three goals in the process, Rask has still put up elite numbers throughout the course of this postseason. He currently has a 14-7 record with a 1.96 GAA and a 0.938 SV% during the playoffs.

Tuukka Rask stopped 27 out of 29 shots faced as the Bruins defeated the Blues 7-2 in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

He has been the backbone of this entire Bruins squad during this postseason. So far he has a 14-6 record with a 1.91 GAA and 0.939 SV% through 20 starts this year.

Tuukka Rask turned aside 18 out of 20 shots faced in Boston's 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues in Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals Monday.

Fantasy Impact: While Rask was not particularly sharp in Monday's win, he did do enough to secure a Game One victory for the Bruins. He will look to have an even stronger performance this Wednesday night at TD Garden for Game Two. Rask has gone 13-5 with a 1.85 GAA and a 0.940 SV% up until this point in the playoffs.

Tuukka Rask stopped 35 out of 36 shots faced in Game Three as the Bruins would win 2-1 and claim a 3-0 series lead over the Hurricanes.

Fantasy Impact: Rask was nearly impenetrable during Tuesday's Game Three victory over Carolina. He is currently riding a six game winning streak along with a 1.50 GAA and a 0.956 SV% during this span. He is the hottest goalie remaining in the post-season and will look to lead his team to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since that heartbreaking Game Six loss to Chicago in 2013.

Tuukka Rask stopped 29-of-31 shots during Boston’s win over Carolina to open the Eastern Conference Finals. Rask has only surrendered six goals in his last four games this postseason.

Fantasy Impact: Rask was once again the best player on the ice for Boston, playing particularly well during a second period that saw the Hurricanes control play and generate 15 shots-on-goal. The 32-year-old goaltender is silencing critics on a nightly basis at this point and is the clear front runner for the Conn Smythe.

Tuukka Rask stopped all 39 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over Columbus on Monday. The win sends the Bruins to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the 2012-2013 season.

Fantasy Impact: At this point, Rask should be the favorite for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff’s most valuable player. In total, he has 408 saves on 435 shots against this postseason, good for a 2.02 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. The 32-year-old will look to keep his dominant form against an upstart Carolina team next round.

Tuukka Rask made 39 saves on 40 shots-on-goal during Boston’s 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets during Game 4 on Thursday evening. Rask sports a 2.11 goals-against average and a sparkling .933 save percentage this postseason.

Fantasy Impact: This series is shaping up to be one of the better playoff goalie battles in recent memory, as both Rask and Blue Jacket goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky have save percentages north of .930 through four games. Though both goalies have been excellent, Thursday marked the first time Rask has outdueled Borovsky since Game 1 of the series. It will be worth tuning into Game 5 on Saturday purely to see these two go head-to-head once again.

Tuukka Rask stopped 32-of-34 shots during Boston’s 2-1 loss to Columbus on Tuesday. Rask has a 2.22 goals against average and a .928 save percentage this postseason.

Fantasy Impact: At this point, Rask appears to be the only Boston player consistently showing up on a nightly basis, as the goaltender has only received six goals of support through the first three games of the second round. Boston’s three leading scorers from the regular season (Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, and Patrice Bergeron) have been particularly bad this series, combining for one goal. Rask needs more help if the Bruins want any chance of advancing.

Tuukka Rask made 38 saves on 41 shots during Boston’s 3-2 double-overtime defeat to the Blue Jackets on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: It is hard to fault Rask too much for this one, though the loss snaps a three-game win streak for the goaltender, and Saturday marked the first time he has surrendered more than two goals in the last five games. Rask will look to get back in the win column in Game 3 on Tuesday in Columbus.

Tuukka Rask stopped 20 of 22 shots faced in Boston’s Game 1 victory versus Columbus. He will look to continue his recent string of strong play in Game 2 Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Both Columbus goals came on deflected shots in a 13-second span of the third period. Beyond that, Rask was perfect on the evening. The 32-year-old Finnish goaltender has been a frequent source of criticism in the Boston sports media in recent years, but there is no denying the role he has played so far in Boston’s postseason success. Rask sports a .927 save percentage and 2.25 goals-against average for the playoffs. He has been particularly good of late, allowing only seven goals over the past four games.

Tuukka Rask stopped 32 of 33 shots faced in Boston’s 5-1 Game 7 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact: Simply put, Rask was spectacular. The much-maligned goaltender has battled inconsistency in recent years but was arguably the best player on the ice in this game, frustrating the Leafs during several stretches where they dominated play. He ends the series with a 2.31 Goals Against Average and .928 Save Percentage. Boston will need an equally strong performance from Rask in Round 2 versus the surging Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tue, Nov 13th 11:41am EST
By Ryan Whitfield

Tuukka Rask will be rejoining the Bruins according to General Manager Don Sweeney. Rask was granted a leave of absence for a personal matter late last week. (Source: NHL.com)

Fantasy Impact: Rask has had a less than ideal start to the season, last weeks leave notwithstanding. Rask is a guy who historically can go on a tear at the drop of a hat, and fantasy owners will be hoping this is the case following his return.

Tuukka Rask had his best game of the season on Tuesday night against the Senators. Rask stopped 38 of 39 shots and was perfect in 5-on-5 play.

Fantasy Impact: Rask has had a less than impressive start to the season, but he is as streaky as they come, which means Tuesday night could be a good sign for fantasy owners. To this point, Rask is 3-2-0 with 3.88 goals allowed average and a .901 save percentage.

Tuukka Rask had a tough start to 2018 on Wednesday night against the Capitals. Rask allowed five goals in just under 28 minutes before being pulled in the second period.

Fantasy Impact: Rask leaves the opening game of the season with a 11.11 goals allowed average and a .737 save percentage. Rask didn't play well but that was the story pretty much across the board for Boston. Rask can be a streaky goaltender, so fantasy players will be looking for a bounce-back performance on Monday as it appears Jaroslav Halak will start tonight.

Rask was the backbone for the Bruins in this one, helping Boston escape with a win and a chance to tie the series at 3 at home. He started the series on a high note, but followed it with two weaker games statistically to bounce back in Games 4 and 5 to record his third game with and over .950 SV%.

Fantasy Impact: Rask has to keep it going as the Bruins will try to extend the series to a Game 7. He ahs a .924 SV% and a 2.14 GAA in 5 games.

Category: , Game Recaps

Rask was exceptional, especially in the first period on a couple of grade-A chances and breakaways. He also had some fortunate bounces go his way as good goalies do.

Fantasy Impact: Rask saved 26 of 27 for a .963 SV% and beats the Senators the first time this season to notch win No.1 for his team and himself.

Category: , Game Recaps

Rask had an otherwise good game, but he was screaned for Burrows' shot and there was not much he could do about it. Kyle Turris made some quick wrist moves on his shootout attempt that faked Rask out leaving his five-hole exposed one nanosecond too long.

Fantasy Impact: Rask is the unqestioned starter with great numbers.

Category: , Game Recaps

It is the 8th shutout of the season for Rask, tying him with Braden Holtby of the Capitals for the league lead. Rask made 28 saves. He now played 63 games this year and continues to carry the load for the B's.

Fantasy Impact: Rask is slowly bouncing back from a rough start to February, as he allowed multiple goals in his first three starts. Since then, however, he has stopped 54 of 55 shots in his past two starts. Rask's save percentage is no longer elite, but his GAA and wins are still very good for fantasy purposes.

Tuukka Rask struggles in win

Tue, Jan 10th 10:55pm EST
By Daniel Marcus

Tuukka Rask stopped 14 of the 17 shots he faced on Tuesday night in the Bruins 5-3 win over the Blues.

Fantasy Impact: Rask still got the win on Tuesday, but it wasn't his finest performance. This is now the second time in three games that Rask has allowed three or more goals, which is concerning. It's not time to panic, but his performance in the immediate future is worth monitoring.

Category: , Game Recaps

Tuukka Rask stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced on Thursday as the Bruins beat the Sabres 4-2.

Fantasy Impact: The win was Rask's 18th of the season, good four fourth best in the league. He also ranks among the best in the league in goals-against average and save percentage. His performance in December does give some reason for concern, however, as he has seen his statistics creep close to the league average for the month. That said, tonight was an encouraging performance that should give fantasy owners some reassurance.

By Blaine Blontz
