José Álvarez gets the win

by Waleed Hawatky | Fri, May 11th 11:54am EDT

José Álvarez picked up the win after pitching one inning, surrendering a solo home run but striking out three as the Angels beat the Twins 7-4.

Fantasy Impact:

Álvarez' outing looked shaky at first, serving up a game-tying homer to the first batter he faced, moments after Brian Dozier had knocked out starter Garrett Richards with a three run shot of his own. But Álvarez would settle down, punch out the next three batters he'd face, limiting the damage and picking up the win as the pitcher of record when the Angels responded in the bottom of the sixth. He's been really good for the Halos out of the pen, pitching to a clean 1.47 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. He's now 2-0 on the season.
