Kenley Jansen expected to miss 8-12 weeks

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen underwent surgery to remove a growth from a bone in his left foot. It was discovered when Jansen experienced discomfort running last week. (Los Angeles Dodgers on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The 8-12 week timetable puts a return at the end of April or early May. Its a good thing the injury is on the lower body and not on the throwing arm or shoulder so there shouldn't be too much concern. Instead of a save number in the 40's, with 100+ strikeouts, the projections for Jansen should be lowered to a save number in the 30's with around 80 strikeouts, dropping him from top 3 reliever to top 10. The Dodgers should provide plenty of save opportunities but the pitchers behind Jansen are all un-inspiring. I have no faith in Brandon League so my guess would be that newly acquired Joel Peralta will get first crack.
