Rusney Castillo the favorite to start in center field for Boston

Castillo is the odds-on favorite to take the starting center field spot for the Red Sox, Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald affirms. In a 10-game welcome-to-the-majors in September, Castillo went 12-for-36 (.333) with two homers, three walks and six strikeouts, which was notable for a player reputed as a free swinger. He was 10-for-36 (.278) with three walks and six strikeouts in the Arizona Fall League and 15-for-37 (.405) with two walks and four strikeouts in Puerto Rico, all while adapting to life after defecting from Cuba, establishing residency in Haiti, moving with his wife and 5-year-old stepdaughter to Miami (his young son is still in Cuba) and showcasing his skills for several teams before signing the richest contract ever for a Cuban player. Fantasy Impact:

If Rusney Castillo can win a starting spot in a crowded Red Sox outfield he should easily be a 20-20 guy with his speed and power. While he has a high upside for fantasy owners who draft him there is some risk involved as he has yet to prove himself on the major league level.
