Fernando Rodney need 15 pitches to strike out the side in the top on the ninth inning on Tuesday, as the Mariners lost to the Astros 6-3.
Fantasy Impact:
Even though this was a non-save situation for the Mariners closer, it has to give both Rodney and M's manager Lloyd McClendon confidence in the reliever's abilities after starting the season with an ERA north of 10.00. Rodney led the MLB in saves last season with 48, so his fantasy value is still evident. As long as he remains in the closer role, Rodney will offer a lot of value in leagues that score saves.
