Victor Martinez placed on 15-day disabled list

by Brendan Ross | Wed, May 20th 6:18pm EDT

Victor Martinez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with left knee inflammation on Tuesday. The Tigers called up outfielder Tyler Collins to replace Martinez on the active roster. (Detroit Free Press)

Fantasy Impact:

Martinez has been struggling with a nagging injury to his left knee following off-season surgery, and it shows in his very weak triple-slash of .216/.308/.270 with only 1 HR. This isn't the MVP runner-up from last year that owners were hoping for and for a guy who hit 32 HR last year, Martinez has an abysmal .054 ISO, 51 wRC+, and a WAR of -0.9. Most other players putting up those kind of stats would be clear drop candidates, but unfortunately with the talent of Martinez, owners will have to wait it out and hope he gets healthy and starts putting things together.
