Mitch Keller stumbles against Red Sox

by Chris Schommer | Pirates Correspondent | Sun, Apr 21st 7:13am EDT

Mitch Keller endured a rough outing, allowing four earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four over six innings in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact:

This performance nudged his ERA up to 4.80 and WHIP to 1.47 for the season, which are hardly inspiring figures for fantasy managers. His strikeout rate remains mediocre at 7.5 K/9, and despite a somewhat decent FIP of 4.09, his control issues were highlighted by a less-than-stellar 2.27 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Given these numbers and today's performance, Keller remains a risky play in most fantasy formats, particularly in leagues that penalize heavily for walks and earned runs. His inconsistency and high BABIP (.330) suggest that batters are finding it easy to get hits off him, further dampening his appeal.
