Brian Johnson resumes throwing

by Chris McCoy | Tue, Oct 13th 10:15am EDT

After a visit with the Red Sox medical team on October 1st, Brian Johnson has been cleared to resume throwing starting at 90 feet and building up from there. Johnson had been shut down since experiencing tightness in his elbow during a Triple-A start in early August. (Rob Bradford - WEEI.com)

Fantasy Impact:

From the get go this injury was seen as a fairly minor one, and the Red Sox certainly had the luxury of putting Johnson on the shelf as long as he needed. Otherwise, Johnson likely would have been making August and September starts for Boston along side the other Red Sox rookies Eduardo Rodriguez and Henry Owens. Johnson does not have overpowering stuff, but makes good use of his pin point accuracy. However, his lack of experience and likelihood to begin the season in Triple-A means Johnson is a player with only dynasty format appeal.
