Eligibility
Adreian Payne has agreed to a two-way deal with the Magic. Payne will likely split time between D-League and NBA depending on Aaron Gordon's health.
Fantasy Impact
Payne should remain off fantasy rosters this season and he's not someone to look for in deeper leagues.
Adreian Payne will not play on Saturday against Memphis. He's out of the rotation but adds to the long list of inactive players.
Fantasy Impact
Payne shouldn't be owned in any leagues.
The Los Angeles Clippers have expressed interest in Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Adreian Payne. Late Timberwolves coach/general manager Flip Saunders traded for Payne in February 2015 in exchange for a protected first round pick. Payne has shown flashes of star prowess but has failed to find a role on the floor for the Wolves. He was assigned to a brief stint in the NBA D-league in January before being recalled to the Wolves this month.
Fantasy Impact
Payne has averaged 2.7 points per game in 9.4 minutes per game in 33 appearances this season. A trade to the Clippers could mean more playing time for Payne as Blake Griffin's future in LA grows increasingly uncertain. Payne's best game of his career came against the Clippers in March 2015 while starting in place of Kevin Garnett, in which he notched a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Adreian Payne scored two points in the Wolves 117-87 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. Minnesota snapped a nine-game losing streak with the win.
Fantasy Impact
Payne stayed on the bench for most of the game despite Nemanja Bjelica getting into foul trouble vs. Suns. Payne can remain on the waiver wire as he averages less than ten minutes per game.
Adreian Payne set career-highs in both points with 16 and rebounds with 15, in a loss to the Clippers.
Fantasy Impact
Payne is a freak athlete that in his rookie year just needed to learn more of the game of basketball before being considered any kind of an asset. He displayed that athleticism Monday as he soared for dunks and rebounds and at times seemed to even have DeAndre Jordan not wanting any part of contesting his shots. Though I don't believe he will have any kind of meaningful impact in fantasy this year, he could become a very interesting player under the tutelage of Kevin Garnett for a couple years.
