Richard Jefferson announces his retirement

Richard Jefferson announced his retirement on Saturday after 17 seasons in the NBA. Jefferson was drafted by the Houston Rockets but traded to the Nets. Jefferson was a key factor in the Nets playoff run in the 2000s with Jason Kidd and Kerry Kittles. Jefferson then bounced around the league with stops in Milwaukee, San Antonio, Golden State, Utah, Dallas, Cleveland, and Denver last season. Jefferson finishes with one NBA championship with Cleveland in '16

Fantasy Impact

Jefferson was a fantasy stud early on his career with the Nets and then developed a game which could translate for more seasons off the bench. Jefferson was barely in the rotation in Denver last season so it was time.

Richard Jefferson agrees to one-year $2.3 million deal with Nuggets

Richard Jefferson agrees to a one-year $2.3 million deal with the Denver Nuggets on Monday just after clearing waivers following being traded from Cleveland to Atlanta. Jefferson will pick up a few minutes as a veteran presence behind Wilson Chandler.

Fantasy Impact

Jefferson could see a few minutes more if Will Barton misses time this season. He's not on the fantasy radar but he did show he can still play in the Finals run for the Cavs just two seasons ago.

Richard Jefferson might sign with the Milwaukee Bucks

After getting traded to the Atlanta Hawks, the team waived Jefferson on Saturday morning. The Bucks are $2.5 million below the luxury tax threshold and has shown interest in the veteran player.

Fantasy Impact

Having played together for seven seasons, Jefferson has a strong history with Bucks coach Jason Kidd. The Bucks will likely use him as bench depth, especially with Jabari Parker out until February of next year.

Richard Jefferson has been traded to the Hawks

Richard Jefferson has been traded to the Hawks in exchange for the rights of two prospects (Dimitrios Agravanis and Sergii Gladyr). The Hawks also acquire Kay Felder, two second-round picks plus cash in this deal. Jefferson is expected to be a buyout candidate.

Fantasy Impact

The Cavaliers are cutting down salary while cutting their roster down to 15 players. The Cavaliers will go with Jeff Green behind LeBron James this season. Also, this means Iman Shumpert appears to be a lock to stay in Cleveland.

Richard Jefferson will play in 2017-2018

Richard Jefferson will return to the Cavaliers for the 2017-2018 season and his 17th NBA season. Jefferson will be LeBron James' backup again but he took a step back after an impressive NBA Finals the season before. Jefferson is on the books for just $2.5 million and then will decide to use his player option for 2018-2019.

Fantasy Impact

Jefferson isn't on the fantasy radar as he once was with the Nets and Bucks. This could be his final season in the NBA.
