Martin to see fewer carries under Lovie Smith

by Pat James | Wed, Jul 23rd 3:03pm EDT

The Tampa Tribune reports that Lovie Smith plans to reduce Doug Martin's 23 touch per game average from his first two seasons. Smith acknowledged Martin will be the starter, but a committee approach could be used. (Tampa Tribune)

Fantasy Impact:

It seems as though Mike James, Bobby Rainey, and rookie Charles Sims will be eating into Martin's workload this season. Martin is still being considered a fringe RB1 according to his ADP, coming off the board in the late 2nd round. At that price, Martin will need to make the most of his reduced touches to live up to his ADP.
