Chiefs claim Jason Avant off waivers

On Friday the Chiefs signed Jason Avant to help replace A.J. Jenkins, who was placed on injured reserve the same day. Avant was recently cut by the Panthers. (www.kcchiefs.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Avant played under Andy Reid while in Philadelphia so he should be able to get acquainted into the offense faster than most. Avant will provide a slight upgrade in size to the wide receiver position for the Chiefs over Donnie Avery, who's been sidelined with a groin injury since week 4. Expect to see Avant on the field for the Chiefs in their Week 13 Sunday Night showdown with the Broncos next week, but don't expect an immediate impact in the stat sheet. Keep an eye on how he's utilized and how his presence impacts the offense before making a move. Avant had 21 catches for 201 yards before being released by the Panthers.
