Jonathan Stewart pounds out 123 rushing yards in win over Cards

by Kevin C. Wilson | Mon, Jan 5th 10:47pm EST

Carolina running back Jonathan Stewart plowed through the Arizona defense for 123 rushing yards and one touchdown to help the Panthers claim a 27-16 victory over the Cardinals in the wild-card round of the playoffs on Saturday. Stewart had a long run of 35 yards and scored Carolina's first touchdown of the game on a 13-yard scamper in the first quarter.

Fantasy Impact:

After suffering through years of injuries and sharing the backfield with teammate DeAngelo Williams, Stewart is making the most of his current role as the lead back in the Panthers offense. He has rushed for at least 122 yards in three of his last five games and has exceeded 20 carries in four of them. Stewart faces a stout Seattle run defense in the next round and will definitely earn every yard he gets. But given his recent production and his increased role in the offense, Stewart might actually serve as an unlikely source of fantasy value against the Seahawks.
