Reports: Russell Wilson to become NFL's highest paid QB

NFL.com's Ian Rappaport reports that the Seahawks are looking to extend Russell Wilson during the 2015 off-season, instead of the 2016 off-season. (NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

The new deal reportedly will pay Wilson upwards of 20 million dollars a year, a hefty raise from the 817 thousand dollars he made in 2014. With the extensions of K.J. Wright and Cliff Avril already done, Russell Wilson's extension is the next logical step for the Seahakws to take. For fantasy purposes, things now get interesting. The team loses a marked advantage of getting a top QB at a bargain price, and may gradually move away from the power-running, vertical passing scheme that has been successful over Wilson's three year career out of pure economic necessity.
