Jay Cutler will be Bears QB in 2015

by Dale Redman | Tue, Mar 10th 1:28pm EDT

Despite rumors to the contrary, the Bears fully expect Jay Cutler to be their quarterback for the 2015 season. A source close to the Bears denies the speculation that Chicago was trying to trade Cutler. At most they were a passive listener when it came to offers for the quarterback. While Coach John Fox and general manager Ryan Pace have not come out and publicly endorsed Cutler as their starter, clarification is expected this week. Cutler threw a career high 28 touchdowns in 2014, but also led the league in turnovers with 27 (18 interceptions, nine fumbles lost). (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

With Cutler's $15.5 million 2015 salary guaranteed, there was little chance the Bears would of released the QB or found a trade partner. Cutler likely will remain with Chicago for the next two seasons due to guaranteed money in 2016 as well. Even with the non-endorsement from Fox and Pace, new offensive coordinator Adam Gase has been building plays that are designed to accentuate Cutler's strengths. With the Bears re-signing Jimmy Clausen as the backup to Cutler, Chicago can move forward with rebuilding the defense and replacing Brandon Marshall.
