Bruce Arians: Andre Ellington will remain featured runner

by Brian Tesch | Mon, May 4th 1:54pm EDT

When asked about 3rd round draft choice David Johnson's role within the Cardinals' offense, head coach Bruce Arians declared that Andre Ellington will continue in his current, feature-back role. (NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Specifically, Arians stated "I think Andre will continue his same role. We'll keep him healthy and let him continue to develop as a player, but the nice thing David can do is he can do everything Andre does, so you don't have to change if there was an injury." While this endorsement is nice, the usage of "I think" and the soft endorsement of Johnson makes me believe that the staff is open to giving Johnson more playing time if he shows he's ahead of the rookie learning-curve. If Ellington can return to full health and handle 15-20 touches per game, he's going to be a bargain in 2015. The 3rd year RB is currently FantasyPros consensus #52 player, and 21st highest ranked RB.
