Doug Martin likely to test the open market

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Doug Martin is "hoping to hit the jackpot" and will test the open market when free agency begins on March 9. Although Tampa Bay is interested in re-signing the impending free agent running back. The two sides are not close to reaching an agreement. (Kevin Patra of Around the NFL)

Doug Martin is coming off of a career year in 2015. With Lamar Miller and Matt Forte also headlining this year's free agent running back class, Martin is likely to be the one who will indeed hit the jackpot and be overpaid for. The Patriots, Cowboys and Dolphins are organizations that are rumored to make transactions to beef up the running back position this offseason in some capacity.
