Drew has been a top 2 fantasy QB for three consecutive seasons now.
Needs to be more consistent through the air to crack the elite tier.

will have a much better season

Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Brees is about as sure of a thing as you can find in fantasy football, he has finished either first or second among fantasy quarterbacks in five of the last six seasons. TE Jimmy Graham resolving his contract dispute with a four-year contract was a big development for the Saint's offense. Also, rookie WR Brandin Cooks has looked impressive in training camp, which should help an already dangerous offense.
I think Kaepernick is the new Michael Vick and I do not mean that in a negative way. He is a popular player on a good team that makes plays with his feet that nobody can make, but there just is not enough production in the passing game to warrant ranking him in the Top 5. Too many people rank him in the Top 10 among fantasy, because of his exciting style of play.

KJ
Fantasy Team Advice
Drew Brees has now recorded a 5000+ yard passing season for 3 consecutive years, and shows no signs of slowing down. Expect another big year out of the big play quarterback and the explosive Saints offense

James Hatfield
Hatty Waiver Wire Guru
A safe QB selection that can put up 4,000 yards and over 35 TDs every year.
In fantasy you have to have a player that will put up more than 30 TD's in a season for you to win your championship. Kaepernick will not break 30 TD's in 2014.

Chet Gresham
The Fake Football
Any of the top 3 could be here, but I just feel that Brees is going to be your safest pick as the top guy. He's pretty much been a Top-2 fantasy QB for his whole time in New Orleans and that isn't changing soon. And the reason he is so low on my overall rankings is because I would wait on any quarterback until about here.
Kaepernick has looked strong this preseason and gets his best receiver Michael Crabtree back after missing him most of last season. He also played on an injured foot most of last year. He should be able to run better this season and with Crabtree back, he should be able to up his passing numbers.

Pat Fitzmaurice
The Football Girl
Aging gracefully (so far), still has ample pass-catching weaponry.
Great tools, but a conservative offense translates into some dud weeks.

Jon Collins
Fantasy Sports LR
As I noted last year, Brees may post better cumulative numbers than Rodgers, but the home/road slips and quasi boom/bust nature (the weekly bust floor on Brees is still high, I know) troubles me

Jeff Boggis
Fantasy Football Empire
Career high 3 rushing TDs in 2013. TD passes over the past 3 years: 46 --> 43 --> 39. Now 35 years old. A top 2 QB 5 of the last 6 seasons, Brees is a model of consistency. In the last 10 years, Brees has play 16 games 8 times and 15 games 2 times.

Tom Schriner
FFLockerRoom
While it is close, FFLockerRoom gives the nod to Brees over Aaron Rodgers. While it is close, Brees has remained healthier, has been more consistent and bests Rodgers in FFLockerRoom's True Proficiency Game Average. http://fflockerroom.com/2014/07/25/2014-fantasy-football-draft-preparation-quarterback-proficiency/
*Stinking it up big in the preseason. Will need to prove himself to get back into the QB1 range.***Has a solid WR group around him and a tight end in Vernon Davis who is on a mission. Probably will never live up to his potential that people placed upon him a couple seasons ago, but still a solid low-end QB1, high-end QB2.

Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Brees is a machine. The only question is, will the Saints scale things back as they try to get more balanced?
Kap could be even better in 2014 now that Michael Crabtree is healthy again, but he still lacks consistency as a passer. There is still top-5 upside here, however.

Smitty
Fantasy Football Starters
As written into the notes of both Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, you can win a league with a QB like Brees. Drafting one of the big 3QBs (Manning, Rodgers, Brees) early is not a bad move in today's fantasy world.

Brandon Funston
Yahoo! Sports
Just 1 TD in W1, but the yards (333) were what we've become accustomed to; Rookie WR Cooks another big weapon for Brees

Tozzi Brothers
Legion Report
Brees has been a Top 2 Fantasy QB in 5 of the last 6 seasons. He’s a dead-lock for 5,000 Passing Yards and 40 TDs. Our Top 4 QBs are “can’t miss” options and are a large grade above the rest. Pretty standard stuff here, you know what you’re getting from Brees and you get it!
If you miss out on one of the big boys, we feel that Kaepernick and Cutler offer the greatest amount of upside for fantasy owners. The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that since 2011, the 49ers have not ranked any higher than 31st in the NFL in Passing Attempts. Additionally, Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman expressed that they could stray away a bit from their ground-pounding roots. San Fran bolstered their WR corps by adding Stevie Johnson and Brandon Lloyd to a group that already included Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin. Kaepernick had a dismal season last year totaling 3,197 Passing Yards and 21 TDs on only 416 Attempts in 16 Games. We consider Kaepernick on the 3rd Tier of Fantasy QBs, however he carries one of the highest ceilings within that tier.
