This game is going to be a shootout and both Matt Ryan and Drew Brees are going to have big passing games in week 1. New Orleans gave up the most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season with 21.7.
Stafford is going to come out passing and will have a big game. Look for him to also throw to Reggie Bush out of the back field. Minnesota gave up the 4th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season with 20.6.

Legion Report
Ryan had a breakout season in 2012 and we donít expect him to stop there. Ryan is primed with tons of weapons Ė Julio Jones, Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez, Jacquizz Rodgers, Steven Jackson. Look for Ryan to light up the scoreboard again this season and every option in Atlanta to be a viable fantasy play.
Stafford has led the NFL in passing attempts the past two seasons. A healthy Ryan Broyles and the addition of Reggie Bush gives Stafford another solid target. The yards will be there, but look for Stafford to bounce-back and split his TD Totals of 41 in 2011 and 20 in 2012. I would expect around 30 TDs this season from Stafford.

Shootout on the fast track in New Orleans looms to start the season. Assuming White's health, Ryan has the dogs to hang some points.

Matt Ryan is the safest pick as the 6th QB off the board but RGIII, Kap, Stafford all have higher upside
Stafford is QB you can wait for in 2013; #1 fantasy QB potential

Fantasy Football Maniax
The Saints gave up the most points to fantasy quarterbacks last year and even though they have a new defensive coordinator (Rob Ryan), this team is still going to give up a boatload of points to fantasy QBs and Ryan has all the offensive weapons to have a monster week.
Stafford plays a Vikings D that allowed the 5th most points to fantasy quarterbacks last year and Stafford had over 300 yards passing in both games against the Vikings last year. Touchdown passes will be the key though, but the Lions are hoping Reggie Bush teamed with Calvin Johnson will help in that department.

Chet Gresham
The Fake Football
In nine games against the Saints Ryan is averaging 280 yards passing and 1.5 touchdowns. last season was a tale of two games with Ryan passing for 411 yards and 3 touchdowns in their week 10 loss to the Saints on the road and then a 165 yard one touchdown performance at home in which they gave it over to the running game and intercepted Brees 5 times. You can't count on Brees doing that again, so Ryan will need to pass.
Last season Stafford faced the Vikings twice and threw for over 300 yards each time, but in one game he threw zero touchdowns and in the other he threw three. The good news is he only threw one interception. The Vikings pass defense lost Antoine Winfield and have gotten younger as well. The Lions will have trouble running the ball against the Vikings run defense so we should see plenty of passing.

Whats cooler than being cool? Matty Ice. Ryan still has the best WR duo in the NFL with Roddy White and Julio Jones. The Falcons added a BEAST in their backfield with Steven Jackson. Safties cannot play so deep to defend the pass and only the pass. Ryan is going to get plenty more opportunities for big plays.
Stafford was plagued by not have a quality #2 WR in 2012. Everyone and their mothers were dropping TDs left and right. If Calvin Johnson missed a game, Stafford would be lucky to eclipse 200 Yards. Not his fault, the Lions just do not have a quality #2 option. So what did the Lions do? Absolutely nothing but add Reggie Bush. Reggie should be special, but that does not solve the problem of a quality downfield #2 WR. Still Staff has the best arm in the NFL and could easily have a huge s...

Saints defense is atrocious, so all signs point to a huge week 1 for Ryan.
Stafford slings it a ton and Vikes secondary is a mess. Should equate to solid numbers.

NFL Soup
With Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez, there may be no passer in the league with more dangerous weapons than Matt Ryan. The addition of Steven Jackson should also add a pass-catching-out-of-the-backfield aspect that wasn't there with Michael Turner back there.
Stafford was slow getting out of the gate last year, as he didn't throw more than one TD in any of the Lions' first six games. His touchdown total dropped from 41 in 2011 to 20 last year, but he did get close to the 5,000-yard mark again.
