Quarterback

Goodnight, sweet Patrick Mahomes. May we live to see you return this season. Without Mahomes around, Deshaun Watson should be a popular option as the go-to QB1. He may not be as good as Mahomes, but he’s certainly got the talent to produce high-end quarterback numbers. In his last home game, Watson destroyed the Atlanta Falcons by throwing for 426 yards and five touchdowns. While that was against the abysmal Atlanta defense, the Oakland Raiders’ defense isn’t much better. Aaron Rodgers gassed them last week, so look for Watson to do the same. Russell Wilson should be the second-most popular option this week as he takes on the Falcons, who are bad. Not only are they bad, but they’ll also be without star cornerback Desmond Trufant for a second-straight week. We saw what the Rams did to them last week, and you should expect more of the same. Stafford should be another popular choice in his easy matchup with the bad Giants secondary, and his $6,100 price tag can’t hurt, either. The next two options — Gardner Minshew and Tom Brady — have about the same rates of ownership. While Minshew takes on the Jets, who just imploded against the Patriots, I’m a bit concerned that the Jags will emphasize the run at his expense. Meanwhile, Brady and the Patriots should put up points against the Browns, and we’ll get to see what role new acquisition Mohamed Sanu will play in the process.
