The marquee matchups largely failed to deliver on the hype, fantasy points were relatively scarce, and too many touchdown opportunities were stolen by the Bo Scarbroughs of the world. Q1. How much are you willing to spend (FAAB %) on your favorite waiver wire target (or two) and why do you like him?
Jonathan Williams (RB – IND)
“With the news breaking that Marlon Mack required surgery on his broken hand and will not only be out for Thursday’s game, but potentially multiple more weeks, I’ll be spending any FAAB I have left on Williams. He is by no means among the most talented backup running backs in the league, but he does play behind the best offensive line in football, which counts for a lot more. We saw evidence of this when he rumbled for 147 yards in just 14 touches after relieving Mack. The upcoming matchups aren’t ideal, but with volume in this offense, he’ll still be an RB2 every week Mack is out.”

“With Marlon Mack out a few weeks with a broken hand, Jonathan Williams becomes the top waiver add of the week. We have had a ton of uncertainty, injuries, and inconsistency at the running back position this season, so when a player runs for 116 yards AND has a long catch, we need to take notice. He gets to face a Texans team that got ran over last week, so the matchup combined with the opportunity makes him a must-add. I’d generally spend about 30% of my FAAB budget to acquire him, but the FAAB percentage can move up or down based on your level of need.”

Allen Lazard (WR – GB)
“It’s probably Lazard, who’s not someone you don’t need to start right away, but is someone to stash on your bench. He’s been making his way up the depth chart and though Geronimo Allison is still playing slightly more snaps, he’s not getting the consistent targets Lazard is. It’s very possible Lazard turns into the player many hoped Marquez Valdes-Scantling would be. Lazard has averaged 4.8 targets per game since joining the rotation five games ago, including a season-high six targets in their last game. The bye week could’ve given them a chance to incorporate more plays for him. He’s a high-quality bench stash who may be the No. 2 receiver for Aaron Rodgers. You shouldn’t spend more than three to five percent of your budget on him, though.”

Noah Fant (TE – DEN)
“Fant needs to be owned in all leagues going forward. With the lack of depth at the tight end position, especially considering the current injury status of a few top players, Fant can be a stretch-run injection of production for your team. Brandon Allen targeted the rookie 11 times Sunday, which is more than any other Bronco. I would be willing to spend all of my budget up to 50% if I am truly in need of a tight end.”

Q2. For owners renting a D/ST in Week 11, what readily available option (under 40%) should they target and why?
“The Broncos are a solid option. Not many realize that they are one of the best defenses in the league. They’ve allowed just 19.7 points per game, which ranks as the eighth-lowest mark in the NFL. After failing to generate a sack or turnover in the first three games, they’ve racked up 24 sacks and nine turnovers over their last seven games. Now on to play the Bills, who’ve allowed three-plus sacks in four different games this season. While Josh Allen has done a great job limiting turnovers, the matchup against the Broncos is the toughest one he’s had in a while.”

“Denver has been a solid defensive unit after the first month of the season. They have given up more than 20 points just once since Week 5 and have totaled two or more sacks in four of the last five games. This week, they face a Buffalo team that allows the 10th-most points to opposing D/STs, despite facing teams like the Redskins, Bengals, Giants, Jets, and Dolphins twice.”

“The answer has to be the team playing the Buccaneers, which is the Falcons. While I’m not sure how many of the interceptions were completely Jameis Winston’s fault against New Orleans, it cannot be a coincidence that he has 13 interceptions over his last five games. Tampa has also allowed the fourth-most sacks in the league. The Falcons seemed to have turned their defense around with excellent performances against New Orleans and Carolina, allowing just 12 total points.”

“Denver is a great option this week, of course, but another that is neck and neck with them is Tennessee. They’ll take on Jacksonville at home this week, which should prove to be a top matchup for the rest of the season. Since leaving Chip Kelly’s system, Foles has posted near-identical rate stats to Blake Bortles. In fact, much of that was behind a great offensive line and now he moves to a terrible offensive line that will commonly have him under pressure. Not only that, but the Titans are already among the league’s top-10 defenses this season.”
