FanDuel DFS NHL Strategy Advice: Thursday (2/11)

There are four games postponed tonight but still a massive ten-game slate to look forward to. Let’s get to the action.

Center

Roope Hintz (DAL): $4,800 @ CAR
Despite battling injuries and postponements, Roope Hintz has still gotten off to a nice start this season. He has eight points in eight games. Hintz is skating on the second line with Denis Gurianov and Jason Robertson, as well as the top power-play unit. Tonight, the Stars head to Carolina to take on a Hurricanes team that has allowed four goals per game in their last five contests. With Petr Mrazek still sidelined, Carolina could turn to Alex Nedeljkovic in goal.

Jack Roslovic (CBJ): $4,300 @ CHI
The “throw in” of the Laine for Dubois trade has made the biggest impact of them all thus far. Jack Roslovic, an Ohio native, was happy to get a fresh start in Columbus after requesting a trade out of Winnipeg. Roslovic’s biggest gripe with the Jets was his inability to crack the top six. A skilled forward can quickly find himself in no man’s land if they do not play at the top of the lineup. Fortunately, he has found that opportunity in Columbus. Roslovic is centering the top line between Patrik Laine and Cam Atkinson. He is also centering the top power-play unit. It has paid immediate dividends as Roslovic has recorded seven points in his first five games, including a highlight-reel beauty on Monday against Carolina. Tonight the Jackets head to Carolina to take on a sub-par Chicago team.

Wing

Andrew Copp (WPG): $4,000 vs OTT
Andrew Copp is amid the best season of his career. He has 12 points in 12 games. His career-high prior to this season was 28 points in 82 games in 2017-2018.  With two more points on Tuesday night against the Flames, Copp has not shown any sign of slowing down. He has settled in nicely on the top line alongside Mark Scheifele and the red-hot Nikolaj Ehlers. He is also getting power play time on one of the best second units in the NHL with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Nikolaj Ehlers. Tonight, the Jets are home to an Ottawa Senators team that has given up the most goals in the league this season.

Defense

Tyson Barrie (EDM): $5,400 @ MTL
Things are finally coming together for Tyson Barrie. After a nightmarish season in Toronto last year, Barrie signed a one-year deal in Edmonton. Running the point on the lethal Oilers power play is a sure-fire way of padding your stats. Barrie has 11 points in 15 games this year, but nine of those points have come in the last seven games. Barrie is also third amongst defensemen in shots on goal. Tonight the Oilers are in Montreal taking on a Habs team that is on the second half of a back-to-back, having played their biggest rival in the Maple Leafs the night before.

Goalie

Pekka Rinne (NSH): $7,100 vs DET
There is a seesaw battle ongoing for the net in Nashville. When the Predators season began, it appeared to be Juuse Saros’ job to lose. Saros looks to be doing exactly that, with a 4.34 GAA and a .856 save percentage in the last two weeks. On the other hand, Rinne has posted a 2.43 GAA and a .930 save percentage over that same span. For that reason, I expect John Hynes to go with Rinne tonight against Detroit. The Red Wings are dead last in the NHL with 1.93 goals per game, the only team under 2.00. Be sure to double-check who is starting in goal later in the day.
