Let’s get right into it this week.
Here’s how I did last week:
- Tanner Houck: W 0, L 0, QS 0, ER 0, K 7, BB 0
- Tylor Megill: W 0, L 1, QS 0, ER 4, K 8, BB 1
- Bryse Wilson: W 0, L 0, QS 1, ER 3, K 4, BB 2
- Bailey Ober: W 0, L 0, QS 0, ER 2, K 4, BB 0
- Mike Minor: W 0, L 0, QS 1, ER 0, K 3, BB 0
- Joe Ryan: W 1, L 0, QS 1, ER 0, K 4, BB 0
- Total: W 1, L 1, QS 3, ER 9, K 30, BB 3
On one hand, I’m annoyed at the Megill result and Ober’s usage. On the other hand, we had three quality starts out of six and only had a 10:1 K:BB ratio for the week. We’ll take these results every week.
Let’s get to it for Week 24.

I’m not going to recommend Drew Rasmussen against the Blue Jays or A.J. Alexy against the Astros, so we have to skip today. If you’re looking for pitchers with lower rostership numbers but not quite at 30 percent, I recommend Jake Odorizzi against the Rangers or Rich Hill against the Cardinals.

Joe Ryan (MIN) vs. CLE 17%
Apparently, football started last night, so I hope that you won free money on DraftKings. But the tell that it’s pigskin time is that players who should have higher rostership numbers are stuck at a low level. That’s Ryan at 17 percent. He nearly threw a perfect game in his second career start against Cleveland, and his reward is getting them again to start his two-start week. Sign me up.
Other option: Eric Lauer (MIL) at DET 27%
Wednesday, September 15
Tanner Houck (BOS) at SEA 27%
As long as Houck remains eligible at the 30 percent threshold, we’ll keep recommending him. This is a huge series for both teams here, and while Houck has been capped around the five-inning mark, the results have been there. He’s going to be a popular sleeper heading into 2022 drafts. Until then, though, start him.
Other option: Josiah Gray (WAS) vs. MIA 27%
Thursday, September 16
Glenn Otto (TEX) vs. HOU 9%
The truth is, I want to make this the third straight Thursday where we skip a streamer. However, I skipped Monday already, and I don’t want to skip another day. If you’re playing it safe, avoid streaming today. If not, you can go with Otto, who has a 1.86 ERA in his first 9.2 innings pitches.

Luis Gil (NYY) vs. CLE 23%
A lot of this depends on the health of Gerrit Cole, but even if Cole returns, Jameson Taillon going to the IL should keep a rotation spot open for Gil. Gil finally struggled his last time out, but it was against the Blue Jays, so does it actually count? He now gets the soon-to-be Guardians in a Friday game. I’ll roll the dice with him returning to his previous form here.

Saturday, September 18
Edward Cabrera (MIA) vs. PIT 11%
Cabrera has shown the flashes that we want to see from a top-pitching prospect, but he hasn’t quite been able to put it all together yet. If there were ever a get-right game, it’s against Pittsburgh. I’m good rolling the dice with him or his opposing pitcher, Bryse Wilson.
Other option: Bryse Wilson (PIT) at MIA 2%
Sunday, September 19
Logan Gilbert (SEA) at KC 26%
There are no two ways around how bad Gilbert has been of late, and I expect those struggles to continue against the Red Sox earlier in the week. But this is such a great get-right spot for him against the Royals that I can’t pass him up here. I’m expecting high strikeout totals and hopefully pitching into the sixth inning for the first time since August 10.
