The 2022 NFL Draft class had several talented first-round wide receivers. Six got selected in the first 18 picks, including three acquired in draft-night trades. However, 28 wide receivers got drafted in total, including 11 on Day 3. One of the more intriguing names picked on Day 3 was Nevada’s Romeo Doubs.
Doubs was a three-star recruit in 2018. He was the 188th rated wide receiver and the 136th rated player in the state of California. As a three-star recruit, Doubs didn’t receive offers from the top programs in the Pac-12 like USC and Oregon. Instead, he had offers from Rutgers and Nevada. After choosing Nevada, Doubs became a massive part of the offense over the next four years.
The Los Angeles native made an impact right away as a freshman. His 42 receptions and 562 receiving yards were the third-most on the team that year. Doubs put up similar numbers as a sophomore with 44 receptions for 649 receiving yards and four touchdowns. But then, he took a step forward as a junior.

Nevada played only nine games in the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season. Yet, Doubs had the first 1,000-yard season of his college career that year. He also had nine receiving touchdowns in 2020, 50 percent more than his first two years combined. Yet, Doubs returned for his senior year in 2021.
Building off an impressive junior season, Doubs had a career year in 2021 with 80 receptions for 1,109 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns in 11 games. Furthermore, Doubs led the team in every receiving category that year.
Doubs’ career at Nevada included several appearances on the Mountain West Conference’s leaderboard. His 80 receptions as a senior were the fourth-most in the conference. More impressively, his nine receiving touchdowns in 2020 and 11 in 2021 finished first and second in the MWC those years.
After an impressive college career, Doubs was a fourth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Romeo Doubs Dynasty Fantasy Analysis
Doubs wasn't a top, second, or even third-tier wide receiver entering the draft. He doesn't have the athletic profile or upside to be a No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL. However, Doubs has the skill set needed to become a low-end No. 2 wide receiver.
His ability to play multiple spots on the field will give the Packers options for this season. After trading away Davante Adams and losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency, the Packers have arguably the worst wide receiver core in the NFL. While they added Sammy Watkins in free agency, that didn't stop Green Bay from adding two wide receivers in the NFL Draft.
While almost every mock draft had Green Bay using one of their two first-round picks on a wide receiver, the Packers used both selections on defense. Then, they traded both their second-round picks to the Minnesota Vikings to move up and select Christian Watson with the 34th overall pick. While Watson is a popular late first-round/early second-round pick in rookie drafts, Doubs is a sneaky value at his current ADP.
According to the Faceoff Sports Network, the fourth-round rookie has a 35.7 ADP. At that price, Doubs should be on everyone's sleepers list.
Last year, Adams and Valdes-Scantling had a combined 224 targets or a 37.8 percent target share. Those targets will get spread out among Watkins, Watson, Doubs, Allen Lazard, and others this season. However, Doubs has a shot at leading the group in targets.
Watkins has struggled with injuries during his career, while Lazard's career-high in targets is 60 (from last season). Watson has plenty of upside. However, coming from North Dakota State, he will need time to adjust to the NFL level of play.
Meanwhile, Doubs' experience and pro-ready game give him a leg up over Watson. But, more importantly, he has very little competition for the No. 1 role in Green Bay as a rookie.
Doubs is a high upside mid-round rookie pick, given his situation. A year from now, things could look drastically different in Green Bay. However, there are plenty of available targets in Green Bay from last season. Draft Doubs at his current ADP (or a tad earlier) and hope he impresses Aaron Rodgers in training camp. If that does happen, he should have an impressive rookie season. Then, trade him next offseason for a better draft pick in the 2023 rookie draft.
Doubs has a similar game to Reynolds. Both are typical X receivers but can play all over the formation. Both can run routes on all three levels of the field but are at their best challenging defenses downfield.
Like Doubs, Reynolds had a productive college career as a No. 1 wide receiver. While he has bounced around during his five-year NFL career, Reynolds has been a productive role player during his time with the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions. While that doesn't sound ideal for fantasy purposes, Reynolds never had a shot at earning an impactful role as a rookie. Doubs won't have that problem in Green Bay.
