Juan Soto dealing with sore knee

Juan Soto reportedly banged his knee on the dugout bench leading to his precautionary removal in the 9th inning on Monday according to NBC Sports Washington’s Matt Weyrich. (Source: Matt Weyrich on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Soto will be reevaluated Tuesday to assess his availability going forward. Juan Soto is getting lost in the subpar Nationals lineup and producing well below his first round ADP. That makes this possible non-sports related injury just another twist to this frustrating season for fantasy managers.

Jakob Junis (hamstring) expected to miss 4-6 weeks

Jakob Junis will miss 4-6 weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring strain according to The Athletic’s Andrew Baggarly. (Source: Andrew Baggarly on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Jakob Junis left his last start Friday against the Dodgers with a strained hamstring and was placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday. This is a large blow to the Giants’ rotation (and fantasy managers’ rosters) as Junis was carrying a 2.63 ERA and 0.96 WHIP across nine starts this season. Junis will be out until around or after the All-Star Break and fantasy managers hope he’s no worse for the wear.

Alex Cobb (neck strain) to throw live batting practice Tuesday

San Francisco Giants SP Alex Cobb (neck strain) is set to take the next step forward in his rehab and will throw a live batting practice session Tuesday. (Source: Evan Webeck on twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Cobb has played in eight games this season for the Giants and over that span as accrued an ERA of 5.73 with a BABIP of .402 which may just be unlucky but does not reflect well at the moment. This step forward in the rehab process should excite managers of the pitcher as it infers that there has been no set back thus far and he should look to return to the field in over the next week or so, which is all dependent on how his neck reacts to his live session today.

Fernando Tatis Jr. has CT scan on Monday

Fernando Tatis Jr. underwent a CT scan on Monday and will await results to dictate the next steps. He has been on the 60-day injured list since April 7 with a left wrist fracture. (Source: Kevin Acee on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Depending on the results of the CT scan, Tatis Jr. could begin swinging a bat this week after he made some progress and was able to field ground balls last week. It should be noted that he had his bats with him when he made the trip for the scan which could signify positive progression. If all goes well we could see Tatis Jr. back sometime in early July.

Matthew Boyd has setback in rehab on Monday

Matthew Boyd had a setback, cutting his rehab throwing program short on Monday. He has been on the 60-day injured list since March 27 with a left elbow strain. (Source: Maria I. Guardado on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Boyd felt some discomfort in his elbow as he was facing live batters and ended his day early as a precaution. He’s been working his way back from a left flexor tendon surgery that has sidelined him for the season so far. Any setback is obviously disconcerting and of concern, and the team may need to shut him down for the time being to give the arm additional rest.
