Russell Wilson Injury Outlook

Russell Wilson a game-time decision versus Jets

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, QB Russell Wilson is a game-time decision for Sunday. He’s officially listed as questionable.

Fantasy Impact

Wilson was listed as a limited participant in practice this week as QB Brett Rypien reportedly factored in during practices. If Wilson is unable to go, Rypien is expected to get the start. Wilson has struggled to be a reliable fantasy option this season, though, so it’s safe to look for other options.

Waiver Wire Replacements to Target

Jimmy Garoppolo (QB – SF) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (22.9% Rostered)

The veteran quarterback has played well since taking over for an injured Trey Lance. Garoppolo has averaged 14.8 fantasy points per game this season. However, he has scored 16.7 or more fantasy points in 60% of the games, including two straight. Over the past two weeks, Garoppolo has averaged 274.5 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 17.5 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, the veteran quarterback has scored two or more touchdowns in three games this season and has at least one passing touchdown every week. More importantly, he has a great matchup on Sunday.

Kansas City has struggled to slow down passing attacks this season. Quarterbacks have averaged 2.5 passing touchdowns and 21.9 fantasy points per game this season against the Chiefs. Furthermore, Kansas City has surrendered at least two passing touchdowns and 15.3 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in every game this year. More importantly, opposing quarterbacks have been effective against the Chiefs on a per-pass attempt basis. Opposing quarterbacks have averaged seven passing yards and 0.54 fantasy points per attempt against Kansas City this year. If Christian McCaffrey plays, he likely won’t see a complete set of snaps. Therefore, the 49ers might lean on Garoppolo a tad more than usual.
