News and notes:

Liam Hendriks underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this week. With the White Sox having traded Kendall Graveman to the Astros, Gregory Santos is likely the primary closer, but Aaron Bummer is right behind him.

The Mariners traded Paul Sewald to the Diamondbacks. As a result, it benefits both him and Andres Munoz with both taking over the closer role in their respective bullpens.

The Blue Jays acquired Jordan Hicks from the Cardinals at the trade deadline. He should be the primary closer while Jordan Romano (back) is on the 15-day IL.

The Royals traded Scott Barlow to the Padres. This makes Carlos Hernandez the likely closer for now in the Kansas City bullpen.

Carlos Estevez blew his first save of the season Thursday night against the Mariners. He remains a strong closer option nonetheless moving forward.
