Tuesday’s Top Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick ‘Em Picks

Jorge Soler: 7.5 Fantasy Points – Higher

Soler is a lefty killer. According to FanGraphs, in 327 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, he’s had nine doubles, 28 homers, a .348 OBP, .336 ISO and 147 wRC+. Soler also has a stellar matchup tonight. Ranger Suarez has coughed up a .353 OBP, .440 slugging and .344 wOBA to 278 righties this season.

Joey Meneses: 6.0 Fantasy Points – Lower

It’s not an exaggeration to call Meneses a below-average hitter against righties. In 294 plate appearances against righties this year, Meneses has just a 96 wRC+. Meneses also has only a mediocre matchup. Freddy Peralta has allowed ho-hum .323 wOBA to 213 righties this season.

Ozzie Albies: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher

The switch-hitting Albies has thrived against left-handed pitchers. In 349 plate appearances against southpaws since 2021, he’s had 29 doubles, two triples, 17 homers, a .319 batting average, .572 slugging and .253 ISO. Albies also had positive run values since 2021 against the four pitches (fastball, slider, changeup and curve) Patrick Sandoval throws.

Austin Riley: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher

Riley, like Albies, smashes lefties. In 407 plate appearances against southpaws since 2021, he’s had 28 doubles, two triples, 21 homers, a .292 batting average, .557 slugging and .265 ISO. Like Albies, Riley also had positive run values against Sandoval’s pitch mix since 2021. Finally, Riley is white-hot. In his previous 95 plate appearances, he’s had three doubles, one triple, nine homers, a .278 batting average, .633 slugging and .356 ISO.

Alex Cobb: 4.5 Strikeouts – Higher

Cobb’s strikeout prop isn’t a high bar to clear, especially for a hurler who dominates from the hill at home. In 137.0 innings in San Francisco since 2022, Cobb has had a 2.10 ERA, 2.91 xFIP, 1.14 WHIP, 6.5 BB%, 136 strikeouts, 8.93 K/9 and 24.5 K%.

The Diamondbacks have posed a problem for righties this year. However, they’re in a slump. In the previous 30 days, Arizona is tied for 24th in wRC+ (89) and has a 22.8 K%. Thus, Cobb should exceed 4.5 strikeouts tonight.
