Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (2/26)
Domantas Sabonis (C – SAC): 0.5 double doubles
Sabonis floundered on Monday night, managing just seven points on seven shots. He cracked the double digit barrier in rebounds but was not aggressive enough from the field while Zach LaVine was going crazy. This was the first time all season Domantas failed to register double digit points. He would have hit double figures if the game was more competitive, but such is life when you are playing the Hornets. His reign as the NBA’s double double king remains well intact as Sabonis has 50 double doubles in 54 games played. The big man should get back on track tonight, as Domantas put up lines of 28-11-4 and 19-12-6 in his two games against Utah this season. Dap the More on Domantas for Wednesday night at Sleeper Picks.
Pick: More
Cade Cunningham (G – DET): 19.5 points (alt line)
Cade Cunningham has been elite since the all-star break, averaging 31.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 10.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. He is seemingly riding an all-star high, but one can only imagine what heights he could have reached if the game(s) was played in its more standard format. Cade has now scored 25 or more in four straight but falls under 25 often enough to keep the probability much lower than his recent scoring prowess may suggest. On the flip side, Cade has scored 20 or more in 19 of his last 20 games. Yes, the multiplier is low, but any regular reader of this column would already know that this total has a higher probability than the bulk of the alt lines with similar multipliers. Cade scored 18 and 21 points in his two games against Boston this season. Clap the More on Cade for Wednesday night basketball.
Pick: More
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (G – OKC): 24.5 points (alt line)
Riding high after back-to-back 30+ point outings against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves, SGA should be out for blood tonight after the overtime loss to the T’Wolves. SGA has scored 25 or more points in 24 of his last 26 games and has an excellent opportunity to hit 25 or more tonight against a Heat team that has lost much of its defensive identity without Jimmy Butler. SGA dropped 25 points against Miami earlier this season. Slap the More on SGA for Wednesday night’s NBA action.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
