The best players in the world play on NFBC. The most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pickups on Sunday night.
Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups
Landon Knack (SP – LAD)
Landon Knack was picked up in 53 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $57 and a minimum bid of $5. With Blake Snell hitting the injured list (IL), the Dodgers need another arm in the rotation, and Knack appears to be the guy.
Knack was terrific in limited time in the Majors last year, and while it is unlikely he sticks long term in the rotation, he could have a fair amount of value until the Dodgers get healthy.
Kyren Paris (2B – LAA)
Kyren Paris was picked up in 52 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $171 and a minimum bid of $14. Paris has had a hot start to the season, hitting .444/.545/.889 with two home runs and four stolen bases.
Paris has good power and a ton of speed, but struggles to make consistent contact. He is mostly a super-utility player for the oft-injured Angels, but this hot streak will end if he can’t improve the hit tool.
Jake Mangum (OF – TB)
Jake Mangum was picked up in 51 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $355 and a minimum of $12. Mangum was called up to replace Josh Lowe when he hit the IL, and he has been on fire, hitting .435/.458/.522 with four stolen bases.
There isn’t much power here, but there is a lot of speed. Mangum makes a lot of contact and has shown he won’t strike out much, so there is a chance he can stick long term.
Tim Tawa (1B, 2B, OF – ARI)
Tim Tawa was picked up in 51 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $34 and a min bid of $3. Tawa was the Diamondbacks’ replacement for Ketel Marte, who hit the IL. He was fantastic in the Minors last season and is doing well so far this year, but he doesn’t have much of a hit tool.
Tawa will play regularly until Marte comes back and could be a source of speed and power, but it might come at the cost of his average.
Pedro Pages (C – STL)
Pedro Pages was picked up in 40 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $53 and a min bid of $1. Pages is in line for more playing time with Ivan Herrera hitting the IL. Pages has started the season hot, but he doesn’t have the upside Herrera was starting to show. He isn’t much more than a deep league C2.
Wilmer Flores (1B, DH – SF)
Wilmer Flores was picked up in 39 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $74 and a minimum bid of $7. Flores has been hitting for a ton of power early, with four home runs in his first six games. Flores should play every day, but he isn’t a massive power source, especially in San Francisco’s spacious park.
Kameron Misner (OF – TB)
Kameron Misner was picked up in 32 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $87 and a minimum bid of $5. He has been hot as well, hitting .375/.360/.625 with a home run since his call-up. Misner has always had power and speed, but he also struggles with consistent contact.
Misner is making that contact right now, but with his history of striking out, it seems unlikely it will continue. This is a high-risk/high-reward play as he is one of the most athletic players in the Rays’ system.
