Players Who Deserve A Second Chance

Which player deserves a second chance in 2025 despite a disappointing 2024?

Caleb Williams (QB – CHI)

“The expectations for Caleb Williams in year one simply were too high. What also did not help him was Jayden Daniels making the NFL look remarkably easy. Daniels’ highs made Williams’ lows look way worse than what they were. The Bears were a mess on offense last year, and what did they do this offseason? Not only did they hire a fantastic, young, offensive mind in former Lions OC Ben Johnson to be their head coach, but the Bears also spent valuable resources improving the middle of their offensive line, which needed help in the worst way. This will not only create a run game for Chicago but also give Caleb Williams plenty of time to go through all of his reads and make plays downfield. Currently, the consensus QB14, the idea of pairing Williams in a single quarterback format with a solid option such as Justin Herbert or Brock Purdy is extremely appealing at that cost.”

Trevor Lawrence (QB – JAC)

Trevor Lawrence had an awful 2024 season, ending the year as the QB27, averaging 14.5 fantasy points per game. He missed seven games because of injury, including the final four with a concussion. However, Lawrence averaged 19.2 fantasy points per game over his final five healthy contests, totaling 19.6 or more in three outings. More importantly, the Jacksonville Jaguars improved their offensive line with the additions of Robert Hainsey and Patrick Mekari in free agency. Furthermore, they hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new head coach. Last season, Coen’s led offense resulted in Baker Mayfield having a career year, finishing as the QB4, averaging 21.5 fantasy points per game despite multiple injuries to his receiving core. Lawrence will be one of my top draft targets this upcoming season, especially in superflex leagues.”

Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ)

Garrett Wilson is WR17 and No. 37 overall in the FantasyPros Expert Consensus rankings. He’s no longer being regarded as a budding star and consensus top-12 receiver. But Wilson has had the deck stacked against him during his first three years in the league. He was saddled with terrible quarterbacks in Years 1 and 2, and in Year 3, he had to share targets with Aaron Rodgers‘ bestie, Davante Adams. Now, Wilson is back to being the Jets’ clear No. 1 receiver, and he’s being reunited with his old teammate at Ohio State, QB Justin Fields. It’s not as if Wilson has been a colossal disappointment. He’s been a 1,000-yard receiver for three straight years and reached 100 receptions for the first time last season. Wilson’s best years are still ahead of him, and I’d love to get him in the third round this year.”
