Today’s MLB DFS & Player Props Picks
Friday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Spencer Strider has a brutal matchup on the first night of contests after MLB’s All-Star Break. According to FanGraphs, the Yankees are first in wRC+ (120) versus righties and tied for first in wRC+ (121) on the road this year. Still, they have a 22.5 K% versus righties and a 23.8 K% on the road.
Additionally, Strider was rounding into form before the break. In his previous six starts spanning 36.2 innings, Strider had the following stats.
- 2.95 ERA
- 2.55 xFIP
- 2.89 SIERA
- 1.09 WHIP
- Three wins
- Five quality starts
- 8.8 BB%
- 33.8 K%
- 18.0 SwStr%
- 32.9 CSW%
Strider’s ceiling is massive. However, since he has a challenging matchup, Strider is more appealing in GPPs than cash games.
Tyler Glasnow returned to the hill on July 9 after missing all of May and June while on the Injured List (IL). Fortunately, he had his highest average velocity of the year, suggesting he’s entirely healthy. Glasnow has excelled on the bump at home as a member of the Dodgers. In 92 innings at home since last year, Glasnow has had a 3.52 ERA, 2.83 xFIP, 0.93 WHIP, 5.8 BB% and 30.2 K%.
The veteran righty has a solid-if-unspectacular matchup tonight. The Brewers are tied for 17th in wRC+ (101) with a 20.8 K% versus righties and fifth in wRC+ (109) with a 20.2 K% on the road in 2025. The Dodgers are listed as -174 favorites, and Glasnow has a high ceiling and a tasty salary, making him my favorite option in cash games at DraftKings and FanDuel. He’s also an appealing pick in GPPs.
Charlie Morton appeared to be cooked at the beginning of the season. Fortunately for him, he turned his season around. In his final four starts spanning 22.1 innings in the first half, he had the following stats.
- 2.82 ERA
- 4.07 xFIP
- 3.85 SIERA
- 1.16 WHIP
- Two wins
- Two quality starts
- 6.3 BB%
- 22.1 K%
- 11.4 SwStr%
- 28.0 CSW%
- 105 stuff+
- 102 location+
- 103 pitching+
Morton wasn’t perfect in his most recent turns. Still, Morton’s salaries at DraftKings and FanDuel offer room to provide tons of value to DFS lineups tonight.
Morton’s matchup against the Rays is a tricky one. They’re tied for seventh in wRC+ (110) with a 21.7 K% versus righties and 11th in wRC+ (111) with a 21.7 K% at home this season. Still, Morton’s recent performance and his salary make it much easier to stomach the matchup.

Suggested Lineup Stacks
Kyle Freeland hasn’t tallied a sub-5.00 ERA in a season since 2022, and his ERA has climbed every year since. The veteran lefty has a 5.44 ERA, 4.86 xERA, 3.98 xFIP and 4.27 SIERA in 17 starts this season. Unsurprisingly, he’s struggled at home, amassing a 5.36 ERA and 4.44 xFIP in 92.1 innings at Coors Field since last year. Colorado’s relievers also have the fifth-highest ERA (4.88) this season. So, Minnesota’s DFS-scoring outlook gets a lift from facing Freeland, Colorado’s bullpen and hitting at Coors Field.
- Home (Dodger Stadium)
- Game Total/Moneyline: Unlisted/LAD -174
Jose Quintana is due for substantial regression to his 3.28 ERA in 13 starts this year. The veteran lefty’s 4.40 xERA, 4.79 xFIP and 5.05 SIERA are more representative of what DFS gamers should expect from him going forward. Milwaukee’s bullpen is also slightly below average, tying for the 13th-highest ERA (4.00) this season.
Core Studs
- Byron Buxton has belted 21 homers with 64 runs, 56 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, a .351 OBP, .285 ISO, .390 wOBA, .365 xwOBA and 152 wRC+ in 333 plate appearances this season.
- Ryan Jeffers has mashed 16 taters with a .364 OBP, .232 ISO and 137 wRC+ in 325 plate appearances against lefties since 2023.
- Rafael Devers has had a .376 OBP, .256 ISO and 142 wRC+ against righties since 2023.
- Spencer Torkelson has crushed 24 homers with a .325 OBP, .309 ISO and 134 wRC+ in 363 plate appearances against southpaws since 2023.
Value Plays/Punts
- Tommy Edman has hit 15 homers with a .294 OBP, .234 ISO and 112 wRC+ in 290 plate appearances against lefties since 2023.
- Jac Caglianone‘s 22 wRC+ in 138 plate appearances in the Majors is putrid. Yet, the gap between his .206 wOBA and .330 xwOBA indicates he’s been incredibly unlucky. Moreover, Caglianone had 15 homers, a .427 wOBA and 160 wRC+ in 229 plate appearances in the minors (175 in Double-A and 54 in Triple-A) this year.
