Thursday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Bryan Woo (SEA) at NYY
Bryan Woo has a challenging matchup tonight. According to FanGraphs, the Yankees are tied for first in wRC+ (120) with a 22.8 K% versus righties and tied for second in wRC+ (122) with a 21.9 K% at home in 2025. Yet, they’re not quite as fearsome lately, ranking 10th in wRC+ (110) with a 23.5 K% in the previous 30 days.
Still, picking Woo is a decision to lean into pitching talent on a pitching-poor slate, rather than selecting the top pitcher based on a matchup. Woo has had the following stats in his previous five starts spanning 31 innings.
- 2.03 ERA
- 3.32 xFIP
- 3.21 SIERA
- 0.97 WHIP
- Three wins
- Four quality starts
- 6.5 BB%
- 28.5 K%
- 14.6 SwStr%
- 28.7 CSW%
- 103 stuff+
- 108 location+
- 111 pitching+
Finally, the Mariners are -120, albeit with a slightly alarming game total of 9.0 runs.
Eduardo Rodriguez (ARI) at SD
Eduardo Rodriguez is one of the best pitching options on a slate that requires gamers to squint to see a DFS-friendly option. In the lefty’s previous five starts spanning 26.2 innings, he’s had the following stats.
- 4.05 ERA
- 3.53 xFIP
- 3.51 SIERA
- 1.58 WHIP
- Two wins
- Two quality starts
- 7.4 BB%
- 26.2 K%
- 12.2 SwStr%
- 27.0 CSW%
E-Rod’s WHIP stunk, and his ERA was mediocre, but his ERA estimators and strikeout rate were strong in his past five starts.
Rodriguez’s matchup is midpack to favorable. The Padres are 18th in wRC+ (88) with a 19.3 K% versus lefties and tied for 14th in wRC+ (106) with a 17.1 K% at home this year. However, San Diego was also tied for 21st in wRC+ (97) with an 18.6 K% in the previous 30 days. So, the Diamondbacks are slight favorites (-120), and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.
Logan Allen (CLE) at CWS
Logan Allen is a mediocre pitcher in decent form. In his last five starts spanning 29 innings, he’s had the following stats.
- 3.41 ERA
- 3.82 xFIP
- 4.02 SIERA
- 1.14 WHIP
- Two wins
- Three quality starts
- 7.8 BB%
- 21.7 K%
Fortunately, Allen has a favorable matchup and adequate betting info. The White Sox are tied for 19th in wRC+ (85) with a 26.5 K% versus lefties and 28th in wRC+ (82) with a 21.4 K% at home this season. Chicago was also 27th in wRC+ (80) with a 24.2 K% in the previous 30 days. Finally, the Guardians are -134, and the game’s total is 9.0 runs.

Suggested Lineup Stacks
Marcus Stroman‘s 7.45 ERA is the worst, his 5.74 xERA is the second-worst, his 5.16 xFIP is the second-worst, his 5.33 SIERA is the second-worst, his 1.66 WHIP is the worst and his 13.5 K% is the second-lowest in 2025 among tonight’s probable starters. Additionally, Stroman has coughed up a .403 wOBA to 52 lefties and a .365 wOBA to 37 righties. The Mariners can rough him up tonight.
Spencer Strider isn’t an easy assignment for the Athletics. Still, Strider’s had a 4.50 ERA, 4.18 xFIP, 1.17 WHIP and 11.9 BB% in 30 innings on the road since last season. He’s also allowed at least three runs in half of his 10 starts this year. So, Strider hasn’t been perfect. Finally, Sutter Health Park is a launching pad, capable of humbling even the best pitchers in MLB.
